Shell Yeah: Vienna’s Best Rooftop Party Is Back for Summer

High above Rudolf-Sallinger-Platz, where The Hoxton Vienna crowns a former commercial building, Cayo Coco stages something that’s far more than after-work drinks with a view. With its new summer rooftop series „SHELL YEAH!“, the spot high above the city launches a seasonal tribute to an imagined Havana — not as a tourist cliché, but as a considered, fully composed concept. Every Thursday in July and August, the sky above Vienna’s Stadtpark becomes the rhythm-setter for an urban mini-escape, complete with a soundtrack.

Rooftop Revolution with Rhythm

For over a year, Cayo Coco has been bringing Caribbean energy to the roof of The Hoxton. What initially read as a gastronomic complement to the hotel’s ecosystem has long since established itself as a destination in its own right. With „SHELL YEAH!“, a visible shift takes place: the rooftop bar positions itself not just as a backdrop, but as a stage.

From 6pm onwards (weather permitting), a setting of seagrass textiles, rattan furniture, and maritime terrazzo transforms into Havana’s urban sister. DJ decks instead of towers. A sunset instead of light installations.

Sound Architecture: A Party Called Jack Brings the Vibes

Vienna DJ collective A Party Called Jack — known for warm house sounds and club-culture finesse — is a fixture in the line-up. Those who know them know: this isn’t background noise, it’s curation. The dance floor is not a separate space but the open terrace by the sunset pool, overlooking the Stadtpark. Between aperitivo, oysters, and toasting the evening, an atmosphere emerges that feels far more like downtown LA than central Vienna.

Oysters, Tropics, Tiki: Rooftop Scenography as Statement

  • The Oyster Boys — Vienna’s coolest oyster trio — serve up fresh Fine de Claire No. 3 with mignonette and rotating toppings.
  • From the kitchen come Cayo Coco classics: chicharrones with mojo verde, avocado gazpacho with shrimp crostini, ropa vieja sandwich with chimichurri and pickled shallots.
  • The tiki bar mixes ice-cold Cuba-inspired cocktails right at the poolside.
